Piano Kids Classes

Small Group Class for ages 4 yrs and up - An audiation approach to Piano Playing

The method we use is "Music Moves for Piano" developed by Marilyn Lowe in cooperation with Edwin E. Gordon.

KEYBOARD GAMES CLASSES: The children engage in activites including singing, chanting, moving, responding to musical patterns, creating at the keyboard, and playing short pieces. Activities are developmentally appropriate for ages 4 - 5 yrs. The students will learn to organize the sounds of music using syllables, imitate musical patterns accurately, sing in tune, move with the beat, and develop beginning piano technique using rote instruction. Class is 45 minutes long and children receive a Piano book with CD.

UPPER LEVEL COMBO CLASSES: The audiation approach to learning piano continues as the students engage in more advanced work with tonal and rhythm patterns, understanding the structure of the music they are playing and having varied experiences of improvising and creating their own songs in addition to songs in the method book. Class time is split between Group time and Instruction time.  This class is appropriate for ages 6 & up.

Located at Setauket Presbyterian Church, 5 Caroline Avenue, Setauket

Monday Schedule:

4:15 - 5:00 Keyboard Games Class

5:05 - Upper Level Combo Classes Begin

**Group Time & Instruction - Class time will be scheduled by instructor - Total time of class is 1 Hour.

Calverton Classes:

Located at Lyrical Children's Preschool, 4492 Middle Country Rd, Calverton (Calverton Commons)

Thursday Schedule:

4:30 - 5:15 Keyboard Games Class

5:20 - Upper Level Combo Classes Begin

**Group Time & Instruction - Class time will be scheduled by instructor - Total time of class is 1 Hour.
